Health & Safety Accreditations

CHAS
CHAS stands for Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme and our certification is a testament to our commitment to the health and safety of both our clients and our team. The assessment includes a comprehensive look at how the business complies with health and safety legislation, including a review of our own in house policies, as well as a review of our insurance cover. CHAS certification ensures that both our cover and our policies protect our team and our clients interests no matter what job we take on.

IPAF
Corona Contracts is accredited by IPAF, the International Powered Access Federation. IPAF members are required to demonstrate safe and competent access of powered access equipment, such as the motive elevated work platforms that are often used to fit curtains and blinds in large commercial spaces. IPAF is the leading safety specialist in this field, with over 750 training centres since its inception in 1983. IPAF not only helps with training and safety best practice but also with understanding and interpreting the latest legislation. The assessment involves both classroom and practical training and to ensure our team are properly trained to use powered access equipment and hold the correct Powered Access Licences.

PASMA
Corona Contracts is a member of the Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association, also known as PASMA. PASMA is a qualification in the field of scaffolding. The accreditation is complementary to the IPAF assessment. Where IPAF covers the use of powered access equipment, PASMA covers training and best practice for non-powered access equipment platforms such as scaffolding towers and bridges. Our team is often required to work at a height, for example, when fitting blinds to the high windows of a school hall. The PASMA qualification ensures that our team has the proper training to carry out this work in a safe and effective manner without any risk to the safety of our team or the client and their facility. PASMA assessment follows a specially designed training course where candidates are required to demonstrate their competency in building, moving, inspecting and deconstructing towers of many different kinds.

- Corona Contracts Ltd’ health and safety objective is to minimise the number of instances of occupational accidents and illnesses and ultimately to achieve an accident-free workplace.
- All employees will be provided with such equipment, information, training and supervision as is necessary to implement the policy and achieve the stated objective.
- Corona Contracts Ltd recognise and accept their duty to protect the health and safety of all visitors to the company, including contractors and temporary employees, as well as any members of the public who might be affected by our operations.
- Corona Contracts Ltd regard the promotion of Health & Safety as a mutual objective between management and employees. Co-operation on the part of all employees is vital to the success of the objectives of the Policy and this will be actively encouraged through involvement and joint consultation.
- Whilst the management of Corona Contracts Ltd will do all that is within its powers to ensure the health and safety of its employees, it is recognised that health and safety at work is the responsibility of each and every individual associated with the company. It is the duty of each employee to take reasonable care of their own and other people’s welfare and to report on any situation which may pose a threat to the well-being of any other person.
- Management of Corona Contracts Ltd will provide every employee with the training necessary to carry out his or her tasks safely. However, if an employee is unsure how to perform a certain task or feels it would be dangerous to perform a specific job then it is the employee’s duty to report this to their manager. An effective health and safety programme requires continuous communication between employees at all levels. It is therefore every worker’s responsibility to report immediately any situation that could jeopardise the well-being of themselves or any other person.
- All injuries, however small, sustained by a person at work must be reported to a Manager. Accident records are crucial to the effective monitoring and revision of the policy and must therefore be accurate and comprehensive.
The health and safety policy will be updated annually.
